Time4VPS – A conclusive review

For many years now I have been a customer of many different VPS and hosting companies. I have experienced quite a few. But in the last decade. The entire ‘cloud’ market has been dominated by AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud. It is true to say that these big companies offer a slightly different service than the traditional VPS companies that have been around for years. Mainly resources are sold hourly by CPU usage and storage is sold based on how frequently you want to access it. I’m not going to say this is a bad thing. But it certainly does not suit everyone. I won’t go on about this too much for now. But if you are interested in this more, then I would recommend watching “” by Andrew Quinn on the Pro-tech show.

I have always spent some time shopping around for a good deal. But it does seem that recently the VPS companies have either dropped their prices or raised their prices considerably.

For years I used services from VPSDime, but the main issue I now have with them is that they don’t offer anything with large storage.

I did some research and I found Time4VPS. This is a company that is based in Lithuania. When finding a new VPS company it is very important to learn as much about them before you give them your data to store. For me, I like to spend time reading the reviews from other customers as well as checking out the security they offer. Both physically and digitally. What made Time4VPS a good candidate is that it has quite a few rewards and accreditations. This shows that regulators trust them.

Looking that the services they offer. They offer many plans broken down into the following services.

  • Linux VPS
  • Container VPS
  • Storage VPS
  • Windows VPS

So far, I have tried both container & storage VPS. In my opinion, the storage VPSs offer the best value I have ever experienced. For only 9.99 EUR per month, you can get 2TB and 4GB of ram on a Linux server. This is an incredible value. The only downside to these services. For this review, I am going to concentrate on my experiences as a customer for their storage VPS services. I will review them out of 5.

Pre-sales (3/5)

For pre-sales. The Time4VPS website makes a good effort at best describing their services. The only issue found is that they offer a discount for the first month of each service. They show the discounted price clearer than the real price. You do need to keep an eye out for this as they do make their services seem cheaper than they are. But overall the website does offer quite a lot of answers. There doesn’t seem to be much in the way of pre-sales support though.

Sales experience (4/5)

The sales experience is very simple and easy. You give them your money and you get what you need. I was a little confused about the fact that a Pro-forma invoice is generated and then once paid, your services are then provisioned.

Technical experience (3.5/5)

I find that technically the service is very stable and does not suffer any downtime. As you would expect from any hosting provider. However, I did find that there are some issues connecting to third-party services such as backup services or VPNs. Also, I did notice that there are some performance hits sometimes without any explanation. But these soon pass. I am also a little upset by the fact that all storage VPS servers have only a single core and there is no possible expansion. Saying all this. You get exactly what you pay for and they also offer the ability to quickly switch operating systems or rebuild your server.

Security (4/5)

A VPS is mostly as secure as you want to make it and this is true for these services. But I have to say, there are some improvements that could be made here. All new servers have open root access with password authentication. This can easily be corrected though. Overall. There is nothing insecure about the service. But I do recommend using a very strong password for your Time4VPS account.

Support (2/5)

I have to say this is the most disappointing part of the service. You have to say that you can always get in contact with them very quickly and this is amazing service. But the only support is via a chat service. This is fine. But there does seem to be quite limited. In some cases, the support agents are rude and can be very abrupt. But this could be down to English being a 2nd language.

Conclusion

Overall, I would recommend Time4VPS to individuals who have the ability to manage a Linux server and be personally responsible for their security. The services are very easy to set up and use and very completely priced.
