I’m dipping into the world of Sound – Behringer X32 Compact

Introduction

As long time readers of my blog will know. I have been a freelance lighting designer and programmer for many years now. However earlier this year. I took the choice to step back from actively working on shows outside of my day job. What I found quite quickly is that I got bored. But this year I got an exiting new opportunity. I acquired a brand new Behringer x32 compact console and got hooked on learning how to use it and everything in live sound.

What lead me to the x32?

Well as a keen theatre technician. I found myself getting interested in TheatreMix. This is software for cueing a sound desk for theatrical shows. TheatreMix is free for the x32 consoles so I was keen to explore this console. I also was aware of how many theatres this console packs for the price point.

Review?

As I have no professional experience or use cases yet for the x32. I don’t it would be appropriate for me to fully review the desk yet. However I am very happy with the form factor of the console. I find the on-screen content very hard to navigate. However the iPad app makes a perfect companion for the console and has a much better user interface.
