Upgrading to iPhone 13 Pro Max

Introduction

For the last few years, I have been using my iPhone 11 Pro. I got it as part of an Apple refresh deal where I traded in my iPhone 8 and paid monthly for the phone. It was a very good deal and I forgot about it since I took out the deal.

Smash

I am ashamed to say. That I dropped my iPhone without a screen protector and smashed it. My heart sank at that point. What do I do? I suddenly thought that I had Apple Care on the device and I could simply claim on that. Looking on the phone. It had expired 18 months ago along with the outstanding finance. So I needed to get a new phone or a repair.

Choice

Looking online, Apple was still doing the refresh deal. But for some reason. I didn’t fancy going with that this time. Because with my BT broadband I got 20{dd02ca53089cac2432c56b1281023466f904f5e47d54aa45d3c7a4cebb0a242f} off with EE. I already paid BT for my sim-only deal. So I worked out that it would be far cheaper to get a full contract with EE.

This time I wanted to go all out. If you read some of my other blog posts, you will realize that most of my other devices. I always come to a limit in terms of how much funds I can put into it. But the phone is my daily driver. I use it constantly. I wanted to get the phone I wanted. For this, I chose the iPhone 13 Pro Max. I did consider the 12 Pro max. But the price was not that much different.

Ordering

I ordered my new phone with BT on the phone. They put the order in with EE and said that because I wanted the blue iPhone, I would have to wait 7 days for it to be dispatched. I was a bit disappointed by this. But was willing to wait. The next day. I got a shipping notification from DPD saying that a package from EE would be with me that day. I was very confused and got right on the phone with EE to discuss this. They confirmed that I would be receiving my phone that day. I was over the moon.

Later that day. It arrived and I wasted no time getting it set up. The setup experience with Apple is 2nd to none. Taking the phone out of the box and switching it on. My existing phone popped up asking me to set it up. Then scanning the strange moving barcode thing on the screen. All my data started transferring.

Within 2-3 minutes my new phone was set up. Exactly like my old one. It spent the next few hours downloading apps.

My thoughts after a few days of using it.

The iPhone 13 pro max is an outstanding device. It does have a bit of weight to it. But the size of the device and the battery life are amazing. So far. I can get two days out of this device without charging. The performance of the phone is also outstanding. It is almost as good as my MacBook Pro.
